I Write Like . . .

Over at Karen About Genealogy, there is a post about writing styles using the I Write Like . . . analyzer.  The premise is this: you copy and paste some text from your blog or other piece of writing and the writing style is analyzed.  Your result indicates a famous author with whom you share a writing style.

Funny that Karen should post about this, since I found the same site mentioned in a tech blog I read each day (perhaps Karen and I have similar Google Reader lists!).  Using one of my longer pieces about my mother's Alzheimer's diagnosis, here is the result:

I write like
Stephen King
I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Yet one of my other favorite stories - The Summer Jar - seems to indicate that:

I write like
Margaret Atwood
I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Go figure!

Hmmmm. Now I'm wondering if we're scaring our readers! I write like H.P. Lovecraft.

This writing analyzer gives some interesting results. I tried three separate paragraphs and was told I write like:

Kurt Vonnegut
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Stephen King

Thanks Thomas, it's a keeper!
