But outsiders do not understand why they never married. I do know the true story and I want my descendants to know the facts and not have to speculate.

So with respect, I have included that information in my FTM program and will give meaning to their lives, then there will be no room for judgement or gossip, "just the facts ma'am".

Thanks Thomas for sharing on a very important subject that is part of life!Ginihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08614538259404355973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077536894458666315.post-50719426047483176782008-04-12T18:55:00.000-05:002008-04-12T18:55:00.000-05:00It would be great to communicate further on this t...It would be great to communicate further on this topic - please find my email under View My Profile and let me know!Thomas MacEnteehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09925130637060406529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077536894458666315.post-39567997513575212392008-04-12T09:00:00.000-05:002008-04-12T09:00:00.000-05:00Schelly Dardashti forwarded your comment on my pre...Schelly Dardashti forwarded your comment on my presentation tomorrow here in San Diego. I, too, am sorry you can't attend. I am quite familiar with the LGBT community and am also adopted, so you can see that my concern with how non-traditional families are represented in family trees comes from several directions. Perhaps we can communicate further?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077536894458666315.post-76371982990868595872007-10-27T11:15:00.000-05:002007-10-27T11:15:00.000-05:00Hi, Thomas,Fascinating topic! While I've only stumbled across one (hinted at) same-sex relationship in the family tree, there are multiple non-married opposite-sex relationships among close relatives that produced children in the last 30 years. At least FTM, which is not my favorite program, offers "John SMITH met Jane DOE" as a relationship description, but as you've mentioned, RootsMagic does not acknowledge relationship types apart from marriage.

Your blog is extremely interesting, and I've added it to my Google Reader.

Cheers!Miriam Robbinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12021845886261585678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077536894458666315.post-29803649272735270852007-10-25T11:27:00.000-05:002007-10-25T11:27:00.000-05:00Thanks Joy!!!Thanks Joy!!!Thomas MacEnteehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09925130637060406529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077536894458666315.post-12043849120777685932007-10-25T11:20:00.000-05:002007-10-25T11:20:00.000-05:00An excellent article on an important topic! An excellent article on an important topic!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909175584899159266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8077536894458666315.post-73570683874715700742007-10-20T09:02:00.000-05:002007-10-20T09:02:00.000-05:00A very interesting topic.
