Congratulations to Unclaimed Persons
Good news abounds today! Besides Genea-Bloggers group on Facebook reaching 175 members, the group Unclaimed Persons has hit 400 members!
In case you haven't checked them out, please do so at the link above or at the new website, http://www.unclaimedpersons.org.
What is Unclaimed Persons? How would you like to use your genealogy cyber-sleuthing skills and expertise to help medical examiners' offices locate and contact the next of kin for unclaimed bodies at the morgue? Many times the person has died with extensive identification (SSI #, name of parents, etc.) but for some reason they were disconnected from their families at the time of death.
Even if you don't serve as a volunteer researcher, consider joining Unclaimed Persons to witness the research process involved. You will not only be able to see a CSI type case evolve, but you may also discover some research techniques and resources that you had not considered!
