Thomas, I'm green with envy. I've had two eeePCs and love them. They have travelled to Europe, the States and Canada, they are light, pick up wireless easily and do all I want when I am away from home. I even have a copy of The Master Genealogist running on mine. They have gotten many positive comments as I have taken them out in airport lounges or to go through security.
I'd love to get the latest model but will bide my time until my next holiday - Mr Geniaus doesn't understand my fascinstion with techie toys.
I just ordered one, thanks for the tip! Can't wait to get it, like the long battery life. Wanted a newer faster inexpensive notebook/netbook to add to my collection, light enough to travel but not skimpy on power or memory. I will trust your judgement, you saved me hours of online comparison shopping!
I just bought the Eee 900 last week. Now everyone I meet wants one. I have already done one powerpoint presentation on FamilySearch for a fireside and have another coming up for the local genealogical society. 2 lbs of portable computing power!
That's the one I have and wrote about. http://genealogysleuth.blogspot.com/2009/06/useful-item-2-netbook.html If you know a better solution to my problem let me know!

Is that the one with 3G capability? It's not toy, but it's sure a lot of fun! I love my original eee.
Sweet!
